18 Feb Ramadan Begins Tomorrow : Starting with Qur’an at the Center
Assalamu alaykum dear sisters,
Tomorrow we welcome Ramadan : the month of Qur’an, fasting, and renewal. This is the moment we’ve been anticipating, and how we step into it matters. The beginning of Ramadan is not about chasing perfection; it’s about establishing rhythm, building confidence, and allowing the Qur’an to settle naturally into your daily life. The first few days are your foundation : set them with steadiness, and the rest of the month will flow with greater ease.
Grounding Yourself in Qur’an
Ramadan is not only about fasting. It is about companionship with the Qur’an. To make this companionship real, focus on three essentials:
- Consistency: Fix a daily slot for Qur’an, even if it’s short.
- Revision: Strengthen surahs you already know so they flow easily in salah and taraweeh.
- Reflection: Note one reminder from your recitation each day to connect meaning with practice.
Practical Solutions for the First Week
- Start small: Commit to 10–15 minutes daily. Build gradually.
- Anchor in salah: Use memorized ayat in every prayer to reinforce recall.
- Prepare for taraweeh: Choose 2–3 surahs you want to recite confidently and polish them now.
- Track progress: Keep a notebook or app to log what you’ve revised or memorized.
- Balance energy: Adjust sleep and meals so Qur’an has space alongside fasting.
A Student’s Story
One of my students used to begin Ramadan without a clear plan. She often felt scattered. Last year, she started with a simple routine: revising one surah daily and using it in her salah.
She told me: “By the end of the first week, I felt steady. My Qur’an was part of my rhythm, not an extra task.”
Her experience shows that readiness comes from small, consistent steps.
My advice is simple: don’t aim for everything at once. Aim for rhythm. Ramadan is a month of companionship with the Qur’an. If you begin tomorrow with steady practice, you will carry that rhythm through the fasting days and nights of worship. Ramadan is not a race. It is a journey of presence. Begin tomorrow with Qur’an at the center – in your salah, in your reflection, and in your daily routine. Let this month be one of companionship, confidence, and connection.
