30 Jun Soft Steps on Sacred Ground: Memorizing the Quran Through Grief
Dear sisters memorizing the Quran,
If your heart is heavy, if loss or pain has found its way into your life, please know you are not alone. Hifdh is already a mountain for us as women, balancing our roles, emotions, and quiet battles. Add grief into the picture, and some days, even turning a page feels impossible.
Let me tell you: Allah sees every tear you cry with His words in your hands. Grief doesn’t make you weak; rather, it makes you deeply, beautifully human.
Here’s what I want you to remember:
🌿 Ease the pace, not the purpose. One ayah is still progress. Some days, familiar surahs will comfort more than new memorization. That’s okay. Stay connected: even if it’s soft, slow, or silent.
🌿 Let the Quran hold you. Recite not to finish, but to feel. The verses aren’t tasks; they’re healing. Let Surah Duha remind you that ease is coming. Let Surah Maryam remind you that even the strongest women break – and are still honored.
🌿 Be real with your people. Don’t isolate. Lean on your Hifdh sisters. Say, “I’m not okay,” and allow yourself to be lifted. The beauty of this journey is that we don’t walk it alone.
🌿 Make space for grace. Create a tiny, loving space where grief and Quran can co-exist. A corner, a cup of tea, a short session post-Fajr. Let it be yours. Let it be soft.
Your journey may be slower now, but it is no less sacred. And your grief? It’s not pulling you away from Allah. It’s calling you to Him.
With love, warmth, and a silent du’a just for you,
R
