25 Apr Forgiveness
In surah Hud [11], Allah reports that the Prophet Hud addressed his people by saying:
“O my people, ask your Lord for forgiveness and then turn to Him in repentance. He will send down rain on you in abundance and add strength to your strength. And do not turn away as criminals.” [52]
Commenting on this quality of seeking Allah’s forgiveness, al-haafidh ibn Kathir wrote:
Whoever is characterized by this quality, Allah will facilitate provisions for him, make things easy for him, and preserve his status and strength. That is why He said, “He will send down rain on you in abundance.”
Similarly, there is the hadith that, “Whoever consistently seeks Allah’s forgiveness, Allah will give him relief from every trouble and a way out of every tight spot, and He will provide for him from places he does not expect.”
[Tafsir ibn Kathir 4/329]
