Themes of The Quran

The Qur’an is primarily a book of Dhikr; i.e. it keeps those who recite it with contemplation in constant connection with the kay elements of their faith. So, as you recite, certain themes keep coming by, in the most intertwined, integrated and beautiful fashion.

Shaikh Mohamed al-Ghazali observed 5 such themes:

  1. Allah
  2. The creation
  3. The journey of humanity from Adam to Muhammad
  4. The Hereafter
  5. The rulings of morality, acts of worship and transactions

So, a useful approach to keep your heart connected as you recite the Qur’an is to search for those themes as they come by.
