Dua: aim for the highest

Dua: aim for the highest

Dua is an essential part of our Quran Memorization journeys.

Consider the Du’aa of the Prophets alayhis salam before us. They asked Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for what many would describe as an utter impossibility.

Consider the Du’aa of Suleiman alayhis salaam when he set his ambitions high, saying:

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

“My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom that will not belong to *anyone* after me, certainly, You are The Bestower.” (Al-Qur’an, 38:35)

As you just read, his request wasn’t for just any ‘kingdom’, but one that would never be replicated. His confidence in his Lord was enormous and his expectation of Him was beautiful, and so Allah Ta’ala did not let him down.

What happened?  What did Allah give Nabi Suleiman alayhis salaam?

Suleiman (as) was gifted with:

(1) Prophethood,

(2) Knowledge,

(3) Sound judgement,

(4) Control of the wind, the animal world, and Jinn,

(5) and a kingdom that shall never be replicated by any man on earth ever again! SubhanAllah!

Raise your hands this Jumu’ah and every day, and as you do so, raise the ceiling of your ambitions to a brand new height as well.

Don’t just ask for ease on the day of Judgement, but beg Allah for entry to Jannah without *any* reckoning even if you feel that you are not worthy…

Don’t limit your dua for Jannah, but beg Allah for the very highest Jannah – Al-Firdows – even if you feel that you don’t qualify.

Don’t limit your Du’aa for “the guidance of friends and relatives”, but also beg Allah to turn them into Da’ee (those who invite others to Islam), even if you really can’t see it happening at present.

When making Du’aa for yourself, go all out and beg for the strongest, unshakable Imaan to be given to you, for complete forgiveness of *All* sins, for a life of unending *aafiyah*, for Allah to make you of His *awliyaa* (His pious ‘friends’).

When you make dua for your children aim for the highest…

Ask Allah All Wahhaab (The Giver of Gifts) to make them into Huffadh, Imams, guides of the ummah, the *Best* Muslims, companions of The Quran & Sunnah… Ask Allah to give them the *Best* homes in this world & the aakhirah, the highest degree of contentment & *success, the happiest* and most blessed marriages with many healthy pious children, for protection from *every* harm & evil…

Having the *Best* expectations from Allah.

So aim high, shoot for the stars, don’t get tired of asking & “Call upon Allah, whilst you are *CERTAIN* of His response…”

Remember that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has said;

”I am to my slave as he thinks of me…” [Bukhari]

which means, that He is able to do for His slaves what they think He can do for them….

And remember that He is the Almighty King of the worlds. His Kingdom is vast and His treasures are unlimited. All He says is ‘Be’ &  it is…
