15 Jul Advice for people of Qur’an by Ayman Suwayd (summarised)
The only person who is turned away from the Qur’an is the one who has committed sins that turn him away from it.
Those who haven’t started memorising the Qur’an begin memorisation. Those who have left off revision of memorised portions, take it up again.
Those who don’t have a daily portion of reading, begin reading. Make this a commitment that you will never forget and are constant in completing.
Memorisation, understanding, recitation and pondering of the Qur’an has such a sweetness to it that it makes you forget the effort you exert on this journey. Take a small portion of your time from your daily work and commitments and dedicate those moments to the Qur’an. Take a small portion away from your sleep, so you stand in it’s recitation at night. Perhaps through this you may join the ranks of those who are constantly repenting to Allah (Awwabeen) and constantly engaged in the worship of Allah (Aabideen).
Recite tasbih daily (subhan Allah wa bi hamdih, astaghfirullah, la ilaaha ill allah) and send salawat (durood) on the Prophet (saws).
Make dua for yourself and your parents. Make dua for those whom you love and those you do not love.
Do the type of work that will gain you the dua from a lot of people.
The barakah of the Qur’an retains the clarity of thought, intelligence and memory of the person who recites and memorises it. The words of the Qur’an, its meaning and contemplation purifies thoughts and minds. You will retain your sanity, memory and intellect even at the age of 100 if you make the Qur’an your companion.
Do not abandon the recitation of the Qur’an. The more you yearn for it the more Allah will grant from it.
The angels do not have the ability to recite or benefit from the Qur’an, that is why they gather around those who recite the Qur’an. This blessing of the recitation of the Quran is something that Allah has specifically honoured humans with.
Abu Zinaad said, when I would walk to the Prophet (saws)’s mosque after suhoor, I would not walk past any house except that I would hear the recitation of the Qur’an coming from it.
Ibn Taymiyyah said, there is nothing that will guarantee the preservation of the body, mind and soul as much as the barakah that comes with the Qur’an.
Do not become complacent with the daily recitation of the Quran this is your daily source of barakah when your intention is purely for the sake of Allah’s pleasure.
