Ramadan Countdown: back to the drawing board

Ramadan Countdown: back to the drawing board

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullah

AlHumdulillah! An anticipatory glance at the lunar calendar & we find ourselves only a month away from Ramadan. It’s time for all of us to pause amidst our Hifdh preparation and consider the progress made thus far.

*Have you achieved the goals you had earlier outlined?

*Can you identify personal strengths & weakness in the process?

*How can you utilise this last month to better prepare, correct, improve and enhance your hifdh journey?

I must remind you that successful efforts are not necessarily judged by progress, but also by the measure of consistency. After all, these conscious efforts and preparation that we are undertaking is not just for the 29 / 30 days of fasting , but also for the months (and years) to come.

So, as you review your progress and hurdles thus far, check to see that all steps taken are equipped with consistency and sincere effort.

Now is also a good time to consult your hifdh teacher or mentor, asking for her advise and guidelines on what else you can do to improve your hifdh and maximise this last month. Teachers will differ in terms of their opinion on whether to halt or continue new hifdh during Ramadan; it’s important that you discuss this with your teacher. At the same time, take the opportunity to formulate a draft outline for your hifdh schedule during Ramadan – ideally, try implementing this schedule from the 20th Sha’baan onwards. Your teacher would also be able to share valuable advise, techniques and recommendations based on her first-hand knowledge of your individual hifdh journey.

*Do you remember your 2012 Ramadan hifdh aspirations? Now would be a good time to review them & carefully consider which of them are compatible with your current level as you look towards the upcoming month of alQur’aan.

May your forthcoming preparation be blessed with ikhlaas (sincerity) & istiqaamah (consistency) – aameen! Keep up with your efforts – revise more, read more, practise – practise – practise! Be prepared to honour alQur’aan this Ramadan, inshaAllah Ta’ala.

Stay Inspired!
