The essence, theme & topics of Surah Al Baqarah

Essence of the surah:
-Together with setting straight religious & material matters, Jihaad should be waged agianst the mushrikeen to preserve the kalimah.
It should be remembered that no person’s word will be accepted when it contradicts the Shari’ah.

Summary:
-The main themes in this surah, are: Tawheed & Risaala.
-Tawheed is discussed from the beginning of the surah until verse 123. The discussion on Risaala begins at verse 124 and ends at verse 177. And so the first section is a commentary of the kalimah ‘Laa ilaaha illallaah Muhammadur Rasoolullah.’
-The second section discusseds matters that pertain to people’s reformation, and gives advise about how people may correct their spiritual and social affiars. It also gives details on striving in the path of Allah.
